Study: Environmental epigenetics affects disease, evolution

By Eric Sorensen, WSU science writer PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University researchers say environmental factors are having an underappreciated effect on the course of disease and evolution by prompting genetic mutations through epigenetics, a process by which genes are turned on and off independent of an organism’s DNA sequence.

March 25: Reception, lecture by emeritus award winner

PULLMAN, Wash. – The free, public Legacy of Excellence Reception – including a lecture by 2015 Washington State University Emeritus Society Legacy of Excellence Award winner George W. Hinman – will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in Todd Hall 125. Hinman will talk about nuclear energy issues in Washington state.

State awards $3M for energy savings projects at WSU

    PULLMAN – The state has awarded WSU a $3,075,180 grant to assist with energy cost-saving improvement projects at the Pullman, Spokane and Tri-Cities campuses, as well as the Puyallup Research Station.   Some of the upgrades include lighting, controls, boilers, heating ventilation and air conditioning, and smart grid metering/demand reduction/conservation voltage reduction.   […]
