March 24: World Series champ to speak at WSU Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – Jeremy Affeldt, a three-time World Series baseball champion with the San Francisco Giants, will speak to students, staff and faculty at 11:45 Friday, March 24, in SAC 147 at Washington State University Spokane.

He will talk about servant leadership – a trait that health sciences students at WSU Spokane are introduced to during their studies. The presentation is organized by the WSU Spokane Wellness Collaborative.

Affeldt, who grew up in Medical Lake, Wash., will tell his story, including what changed his perspective about his professional career and how he handles being a nationally recognized athlete. He attended Northwest Christian High School prior to embarking on a 14-year career in Major League Baseball.

He is the author of “To Stir a Movement: Life, Justice and Major League Baseball,” and the founder of Generation Alive (, which involves teens in community service.
