March 10: Alumnus percussionist performs with jazz faculty

Marko-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Visiting percussionist and WSU alumnus Tom Marko will perform with WSU jazz faculty during a free, public concert 6-7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in Kimbrough Hall 115 at Washington State University.

Marko-webHe will perform original compositions with WSU saxophonist Dave Hagelganz, trumpeter Brian Ploeger, bassist Dave Snider and pianist Brian Ward.

Marko is director of jazz studies at Illinois State University. He earned his undergraduate degree in percussion performance at WSU. His first album as a leader, “Inner Light,” will be released on Summit Records later this year.

The concert is presented by the WSU School of Music, the Jazz Society at WSU and student music association Allegro.
