Nov. 15-21: Many events mark Poverty Awareness Week


PULLMAN, Wash. – Food and clothing drives, documentary screenings and discussions about homelessness in Seattle and more will be part of Washington State University’s Poverty Awareness Week Nov. 15-21.

The WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) each year partners with WSU departments and student groups – and community organizations – to hold a variety of events and activities.

Documentary showings will include “Man in the Maze,” “Last Call at the Oasis” and “A Place at the Table.” Discussion topics will include stereotypes of those living in poverty, power dynamics and poverty and the connection between poverty and violence. Fundraisers will support the Fisher Foundation and Tom’s Turkey Drive.
