Stress down, shape up, with fitness classes A-Z

Lift weights, spin on a stationary bike or do downward dog — whether you want to cultivate physical or mental strength, WSU offers a range of classes to get fit and satisfied.

WSU Pullman campus: Session 2 fitness classes run Oct.16 – Dec. 10 and registration is underway. Most popular among adults are Step & Core, BodyPump and the noon yoga class, according to Leah Sanders, group fitness and instruction coordinator for University Recreation. One of the newer classes is Fit for Life, designed for smaller groups with a focus on strength training and how to avoid injuries. See class schedules at:

WSU Vancouver campus Fitness Center, faculty and staff can take classes ranging from cycling and boxing to yoga and barre. For those wanting an all-out workout, there’s high intensity interval training (HITT). (Go to:

WSU Spokane campus: Noon yoga classes: Monday and Wednesdays through Oct. 25 in the Health Education and Research Building (HERB), room 432. Drop-in cost: $8. Mindfulness sessions: Calm your mind/body during 30-minute sessions with professor Tracy L. Skaer. Tuesdays, 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. in the Student Academic Center, room 34, through Nov. 14.
