First provost recognition goes to caring faculty researcher

By C. Brandon Chapman, College of Education

Sola-AdesopePULLMAN, Wash. – Associate professor of educational psychology Sola Adesope was recognized recently as the first Provost Featured Faculty Member at Washington State University for a variety of reasons.

Yes, he’s done great research. Yes, he’s won national awards. But above all: “His high level of productivity never interferes with his humanness,” said Phyllis Erdman, College of Education executive associate dean for academic affairs.

“Sola is one of those special kind of faculty who we have the privilege of working with,” she said. “He always has time for students and faculty, and he always greets everyone with a smile.”

Adesope said the recognition means a lot to him because teaching at WSU means a lot to him.

“It is an unparalleled opportunity to give of myself willingly and to care for students unconditionally,” he said. “I truly cherish the opportunity to teach and learn here at WSU.”

Interim co-provosts Erica Austin and Ron Mittelhammer plan to honor faculty members at home football and basketball games throughout the year. As part of his recognition, Adesope received suite-level tickets to a home football game.
