March 26: Grad students present theses in three minutes

3MT-logo-200PULLMAN, Wash. – Graduate students will explain their research in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, in the CUB auditorium. The event challenges students to consolidate their ideas and discoveries and present them concisely to a non-specialist audience.

The 3MT began at the University of Queensland (Australia) in 2008. In spring 2014, Washington State University’s College of Education hosted the first 3MT event at the university. In conjunction with the 2015 Showcase celebrations, WSU will host its first university-level competition.

Students from six WSU colleges will compete after they win at the college level. Find out more about those contests and competitors at; click on “College-level Events” on the left.

Prizes, in the form of travel awards for research conferences, will be $3,000 for the winner, $1,500 for second place and $500 for third.
