IT Building Power Maintenance Scheduled Oct 18-19 and Nov 29-30

Facilities Services, in partnership with Information Services (IS), has scheduled two maintenance windows to repair a critical transformer bank within the Information Technology Building.  This maintenance will impact the data center and services provided from the data center.  Basic essential services including Internet connectivity, email and the Pullman campus phones are anticipated to remain operational.

The first maintenance window is scheduled from 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, to 8:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19.  For this maintenance IS will begin powering down IS controlled servers and services at 8:00 p.m.; all departmental servers will need to be powered down by 11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18.

Anticipated power supply down time is two hours for this maintenance window; however actual server and system down time will be longer due to the time needed to safely turn off systems prior to the power outage and then to restore service once power is fully functioning.  During the power supply down time Facilities Services will conduct work in preparation for the transformer repair that will occur during the second maintenance window.

The second maintenance window and actual transformer repair is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Friday, November 29, through the morning of Saturday, November 30.  Further details about the second maintenance window will be provided at a later date.
