Dad’s Weekend means it is time for the Coming of the Pumpkins!!! Meet at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, in the Mall between Webster and the ISP buildings for pumpkin and science magic!
Join “Justin Beaver,” science wannabes, the “undead,” and lots of pumpkins for the Ninth Annual Pumpkin Drop jamboree! There will be tables of kid’s activities, science demonstrations, T-shirts for sale, music, and feats of pumpkin physics before the Pumpkin Drop Event at 11:30 am!
Of course, we all know that Galileo’s Law of Falling Bodies proved that two unequal masses dropped at the same time land at the same time, because all bodies fall at the same rate. While admitting that dropping pumpkins out of windows is fun but falls short of “science,” we will endeavor to enlighten the masses with demonstrations and explanations of the physics behind gravity, falling masses, momentum, speed, and wind shift.
We enjoy it even when we don’t understand it! So, come decorate a pumpkin, win a chance to drop a pumpkin, or win a prize at the science tables – Join us for this year’s smashing pumpkins!!
