With Abbas Milani, who will discuss: The U.S.-Iranian Relationship.
With the recent election of Hassan Rouhani to be President of Iran, there appears to be a growing opportunity for a thaw in the relationship with the United States and the West.
President Obama and Rouhani have recently been in contact, breaking a long-term silence between the two countries, and Rouhani appears ready to make important concessions over the Iranian nuclear program.
Professor Abbas Milani from Stanford University will discuss recent developments in the U.S.-Iran relationship and prospects for improved relations.
Abbas Milani is a professor in the Division of International, Comparative, and Area Studies, and the Hamid & Christina Moghadam Director of Iranian Studies at Stanford University. He specializes in Iranian culture and politics, as well as U.S.-Iran relations. Milani has helped to launch the Iran Democracy Project at the Hoover Institution.
