PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University students will develop innovative solutions to world problems, and win prizes, in the 2013 global case competition presented by the WSU Office of International Programs. Registration opens Feb. 18.Students can register as teams or as individuals who will be assigned to teams. Each team includes undergraduate and graduate students from different colleges, disciplines and campuses.
“That collaborative, multidisciplinary approach is really one of the great parts of the competition,” said Charles Snyder, a WSU student, employee and member of the 2011 winning team.
“It’s important for students to have different ways of interacting,” said Prema Arasu, international programs vice provost. “It simulates what they will experience in their future jobs by engaging different perspectives, disciplines, backgrounds and approaches to foster effective teamwork and cross-cultural understanding.”
Teams are given the same global case challenge with just a few weeks to work virtually and in person to develop a realistic and innovative solution. Final judging will be April 1.
This year is the first time international programs is collaborating on the competition with WSU Global Campus, which will allow more extensive use of interactive technology and inclusion of a wider range of distance students.
