Intervention Program for Older Individuals with Memory Difficulties

Researchers at Washington State University in Pullman are seeking individuals age 50 and above with mild memory problems or a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) to participate in an intervention study. The intervention group will meet bi-weekly for 10 weeks and will provide participants with practical memory aids and strategies to help with managing day-to-day tasks. Participants should also have a spouse, family member, or friend who knows them well who can also participate. Testing sessions will be conducted at 3 time intervals and will include questionnaires, paper and pencil tests (like brain teasers), and a blood draw (optional). Participants will receive a brief report with their results following each testing session. There is no cost to participate and each dyad (participant and their spouse, family member, or friend) will receive a $200 honorarium at the end of the study. For more information, please call (509) 335-4033. Your call will be returned by a member of Dr. Maureen Schmitter-Edgecombe’s lab. This study is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association.
