PULLMAN, Wash. – VISA Inc. global head of technology Michael Dreyer recently was honored with the Washington State University Alumni Association (WSUAA) Alumni Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to global business.
As VISA’s chief information officer (CIO), Dreyer oversees the company’s systems and technology platforms. In June, he was named the Bay Area CIO of the Year by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal and San Francisco Business Times.
His prior roles include CIO of Inovant – where he was responsible for application planning, architecture and development – and VISA senior vice president of processing and emerging products. He also was vice president of the Electronic Commerce Center of Excellence at American Express.
He earned two WSU degrees: an undergraduate degree in psychology in 1985 and an MBA with a marketing emphasis in 1986. He was a member of the Cougar football team and was named an all-conference offensive guard.
He has remained connected to the university as a former member of the Business Advisory Council for the WSU College of Business. Dreyer and his wife, Amy, frequently attend and host events to showcase the college’s global business programs.
The Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed by the WSUAA. Since 1970, fewer than 510 WSU alumni have received the award.
