PULLMAN, Wash. – Kathy Barnard, director of Marketing, News and Educational Communications in the Washington State University College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences, will serve as interim executive director of University Communications at WSU beginning immediately.
Cathy Cole, the candidate selected following a national search, has withdrawn from the position.
Barnard has more than 30 years as a communications professional. She was a reporter for the Lewiston Tribune for 10 years, covering cops and courts, higher education and the University of Idaho (UI) Board of Regents, the city of Moscow and business. She was the chief communications officer at the UI for 13 years before joining WSU in 2005. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UI.
