SPOKANE, Wash. – In a well-coordinated reassignment of office spaces at Washington State University Spokane, some 37 people are packing up and moving across campus this week 38 if you count the last in the Interdisciplinary Design Institute to move to Pullman.
It was the institute’s relocation over the summer that cleared space for office shuffling. More moves are anticipated after the biomedical sciences building is completed in late fall 2013.
After assessing imminent growth patterns, WSU Spokane Chancellor Brian L. Pitcher reassigned space to WSU and Eastern Washington University programs based on current and projected needs. Vice Provost for Health Sciences Gary M. Pollack coordinated changes to accommodate expected growth in pharmacy, health sciences administration and WWAMI medical education.
The nutrition and exercise physiology program was first to move. Empty boxes were delivered in the middle of the night late last week by custodians on graveyard shifts. The boxes were picked up Sunday night and delivered to space vacated by the design institute.
On Monday night, custodial staff picked up the newly packed boxes from health policy & administration for delivery to the rest of the space vacated by the institute.
Meanwhile, facilities personnel began moving furniture last week, and information technology staff is moving computers. Moving will conclude on Monday.
