One that would, for example, foster campus engagement, have connections to a wide range of disciplines, and link to university research and global initiatives?
Wednesday is the last day to submit nominations online for the book to be used in the Common Reading Program at WSU in 2013-14.
The Common Reading website details the program and contains the link to the online nomination form.
The book selected as the 2013-14 Common Reading book will be the seventh, the program having begun at WSU in 2007-8. Books nominated are thoroughly assessed by faculty and staff members on the selection committee. All books are posted on the Common Reading website. A short list is recommended to the Provost, who makes the final selection.
New incoming students and their families are introduced to the book during summer Alive! orientation sessions. Faculty members consider how they will incorporate topics from the book into their fall and spring courses. And University College staff members organize the Common Reading Tuesdays faculty expert lecture series and special events.
