Cougs Vote in 2012

In anticipation of the 2012 elections on November 6, WSU is holding a campus-wide Cougs Vote campaign this fall. Already a consortium of groups has worked collaboratively to register over 1,500 first-time voters. Each day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the CUB, WSU students from courses, campus groups, and ASWSU work to get their fellow Cougs registered. A ballot box is being installed in the CUB and will be available for ballot drop offs after Oct. 19. Additionally, a Rock the Vote talent show will be held on Oct. 2, and a 3LAU Cougs Vote concert will be held on Oct. 3.

Students are encouraged to become more active citizens during WSU Wellbeing’s Set the Trend Week Oct. 7-13, and the Young Democrats and College Republicans will debate this election’s big issues on Oct. 9. The WSU International Center will hold an open discussion on foreign policy on Nov. 2, and everyone is invited to join WSU to watch the election results and celebrate active citizenship through voting on Nov. 6 in the CUB. WSU’s efforts to get Cougs and young people to vote have been extensive and are continuing to grow.
