PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University’s annual fall Career Expo and CEA Technical Career Fair will bring together job- and internship-seeking students and community members with recruiters and representatives from almost 200 companies and organizations 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Beasley Coliseum. Evening interviews will follow. The public is welcome.
More than 1,000 WSU students and community members have attended the expo and fair in past years. The event is co-sponsored by the Center for Advising and Career Development (CACD) in the University College and the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA). CACD also hosts a spring career expo.
On Monday, Oct. 1, CACD will host a packed day of pre-event workshops and mock interviews. Recruiters from Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and Mutual of Omaha will present two morning workshops in Lighty 180: “Social Media in Recruiting” and “The Art of Interviewing Successfully.” CACD Internship Coordinator Cindy Empey will lead a session on “Landing Technical Internships” 5:30-6:30 p.m.
A final workshop will close events Tuesday: “Ready to Work,” presented by WSU Economic Development Assistant Director Alexis Holzer, will be 5-6 p.m. in Lighty 180.“We are delighted to welcome recruiters from nearly 200 companies and organizations to the 2012 Career Expo and CEA Technical Career Fair,” said Christie Motley, employer relations manager in CACD. “They are from as far as New York and as close as right here in Pullman.
“CACD staff members as well as several external representatives have volunteered to review resumes on Monday,” she said. “And several recruiters will help students practice interviewing. That adds such a real-world dimension for our students in the process of seeking a job or internship, and they tell us they really appreciate the experience.”
