SPOKANE, Wash. A new clinical trial involving people with type 2 diabetes is the subject of a lecture hosted by the College of Pharmacy at the Washington State University Health Sciences campus in Spokane.
Irl B. Hirsch, a professor of medicine at the University of Washington, will deliver the annual Allen I. White Lecture at noon Friday, April 13, in Room 205 of the Nursing Building on the campus in the University District in Spokane. Hirsch is chair of diabetes treatment and teaching at UW.
Both WSU and UW will be among the 12 centers in the United States where the clinical trial will occur. About 120-130 diabetes patients will be enrolled in the study, which is expected to begin enrolling patients soon and last for eight months.
The goal of the research is to determine if a new class of medicines can help maintain steady blood sugars compared to existing treatments.
