Flexible Spending Account Reminder: The Last Day to Incur Costs under Your 2011 FSA is March 15th!

If you were a 2011 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) participant and still have funds remaining in your 2011 account, you have until March 15 to incur expenses to claim for last year’s account. The only exception to this is if you enrolled in a Consumer-Directed Health Plan/Health Savings Account for 2012.

All FSA claims for services provided January 1, 2012 through March 15, 2012 will be processed against the 2011 plan year first if filed by the claims filing deadline. If your claim exceeds the available funds from the 2011 plan year, any excess will be automatically applied to the 2012 plan year. Exception: the FSA debit card will automatically be applied to the 2012 plan year, and will not be claimed against the 2011 account balance.

FSA participants are allowed until March 31 to submit receipts for reimbursement from their 2011 account. Any funds remaining in the 2011 FSA after March 31 will then be forfeited.

In order for a reimbursement to be processed, a request form needs to be completed with a billing statement or receipt showing the service/product, date of service and amount. The request form is available at http://pebb.asiflex.com/forms/FSA&DCAP%20Claim%20Form.pdf  or at the Pullman HRS office.
