PULLMAN, Wash. – With the Pac-12 Conference finalizing its 2012 football schedule, Washington State University released its 2012 slate, which will culminate with the Apple Cup in Martin Stadium on Nov. 23 – the day after Thanksgiving.
“The 2012 schedule looks to be more balanced than last year’s and should appeal to our fans as we usher in a new era of Cougar football,” said WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos. “With this schedule and the Cougars new style of play, I feel that newly renovated Martin Stadium could be filled to capacity on a consistent basis.”
The Cougars will open the 2012 schedule, and debut Cougar head coach Mike Leach, at Brigham Young University on Sept. 1, the first trip back to Provo for WSU since 1990. WSU will begin its home schedule the following week hosting Eastern Washington Sept. 8, the only home nonconference game on the 2012 schedule.
The final game before conference play will be at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Sept. 15, the second of a two-game series with the Rebels; WSU won the first in 2011, 59-7.
The 2012 conference schedule will open with back-to-back home games against Colorado and Oregon. The Cougars will play Colorado Sept. 22 at Martin Stadium on Homecoming Weekend. The following week the Cougars will move across the state to host defending Pac-12 champion Oregon in the annual Seattle game at CenturyLink Field.
The Cougars will play three of the next four games on the road, starting at Oregon State Oct. 6. A return to Martin Stadium to face California Oct. 13 will be followed by the lone bye week of the season. The Cougars will travel to face Stanford Oct. 27 and Utah Nov. 3 before returning to Pullman to host UCLA Nov. 10 for Dad’s Weekend.
The final road game of the season will be at Arizona State Nov. 17 before the team returns home to host Washington in the Apple Cup the Friday following Thanksgiving, Nov. 23.
Season tickets are on sale at http://www.wsucougars.com or by calling 1-800-GO-COUGS. Single-game tickets for road contests and the Seattle game will go on sale April 2, while single-game tickets for Martin Stadium contests will be available beginning Aug. 4.
