Jerald Lindsay Oaks, Jr., 50, a microbiologist and researcher with the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine’s, died Jan. 15, 2011, in Spokane.Oaks, a Pullman resident, was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumor in late November.
He worked in Vet Med’s microbiology and pathology department from October 1997 to the present. He also worked as part of an international research team that linked the decline of three Asian vulture species to a drug commonly used to treat livestock there. That work eventually resulted in the banning of vertinarians using the drug diclofenac in India.
A rosary service will be 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pullman.
