PULLMAN – One of 11 annual Laureate Awards from the Endocrine Society has been awarded to John H. Nilson, Edward R. Meyer Distinguished Professor and director of WSU’s School of Molecular Biosciences.
The awards were established in 1944 to recognize the highest achievements in endocrinology, including science, leadership, teaching and service.
Nilson won the Sidney H. Ingbar Distinguished Service Award for the high quality service and time he has given to the society and the broader community of basic scientists in endocrinology. He has served as Endocrine Society vice president for basic science, editor-in-chief of Molecular Endocrinology, and a member of the publications committee and endocrine reviews editorial board.
He also has taught short courses in endocrinology at colleges with significant enrollment of under-represented minorities and has conducted workshops on publication ethics and scientific writing.
