Nominations sought for faculty diversity award

PULLMAN – Faculty, staff and students are asked to submit nominations for the annual Faculty Diversity Award by Friday, Nov. 26.

The award recognizes distinctive and outstanding teaching, research or creative work and/or service or outreach that advances diversity in WSU and the communities it serves.

The recipient will receive the award and be recognized March 25 at Showcase, WSU’s annual celebration of faculty and staff achievement.

“I am very pleased that the Faculty Diversity Award has been elevated to the level of WSU’s top faculty awards,” said Alex Tan, WSU diversity faculty fellow.

Criteria for the award, nomination and application forms can be found at http://provost.wsu.edu by clicking on the faculty awards program link. Nominations and applications also may be delivered to Alex Tan, Lighty 190, sent via campus mail (1061), or emailed to alextan@wsu.edu.

Last year’s nominees and applicants are encouraged to resubmit their materials for consideration this year.

Marcia Ostrom and the WSU Small Farms Program received the 2010 Faculty Diversity Award. Steve Burkett, sociology and the Graduate School, received the award in 2009. Michael Pavel, professor in the College of Education, was the inaugural recipient in 2008.
