PULLMAN – The WSU football team will face new Pacific-12 Conference foes Colorado and Utah in the 2011 season. Traditional Northwest rivalry games with Oregon, Oregon State and Washington will be maintained.

The Cougars will open the season at home against Idaho State (Sept. 3), the first meeting between the two schools. The following week WSU will host UNLV (Sept. 10) at Martin Stadium, marking the first meeting between the schools since WSU posted a 40-13 victory in 1991.

WSU will conclude its nonconference schedule at San Diego State (Sept. 17), its first of three consecutive road games. The last time these teams met, WSU won 45-17 at Qwest Field in Seattle in 2007.

Following its lone bye week, WSU will open Pac-12 play with a pair of road games, the first coming at Colorado (Oct. 1). WSU last faced the Buffaloes during the 2004 season when the game was played at Qwest Field.

The following week the Cougars will face their lone southern California opponent with a contest at UCLA (Oct. 8).

Consecutive games against Stanford (Oct. 15) and Oregon State (Oct. 22) will be the first of four home conference games during the 2011 season. The other two will come against Arizona State (Nov. 12) followed by the home finale against Utah (Nov. 19). The meeting against the Utes will be the first since the 2000 season, a 38-21 Cougars win in Utah.

The three remaining conference road games will be at Oregon (Oct. 29) and California (Nov. 5), followed by the season-ending Apple Cup at Washington (Nov. 26).
