Free workshops help community become tech savvy

VANCOUVER – Helping the community become more media literate and tech savvy is the goal of a free workshop series taught by a cadre of faculty at WSU Vancouver.

“Technology 101” is a hands-on introduction to digital and social media offered by the Creative Media and Digital Culture Program. The series will focus on specific software programs and digital media concepts that are essential tools for students and community members working with digital and social media.

“We targeted specific programs like Dreamweaver, and activities like optimizing search engines, that we think students and community members need to know in order to handle digital media effectively,” said Dene Grigar, associate professor and director of the CMDC program.

Each workshop will begin with a 20-minute presentation by a digital media professional and is followed by a question and answer period. Each session is limited to 24 participants and is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. All events will take place noon-1:15 p.m. in the Multimedia classroom building 111.
