WSU and the University of Idaho, in partnership with the Latah and Palouse
economic development councils, make up the PKC. It combines
the resources of the two research land-grant institutions to offer courses and
conduct research.
The universities are the top employers in the region, together employing nearly 10,000 individuals.
The PKC works to build a nationally recognized place of research and technology transfer to attract, recruit and retain high quality students. It aims to promote the assets and capital of the Palouse region by partnering with the universities, private sector, economic development agencies and government.
PKC also includes more than 20 companies, divided into five industry clusters, including: electronics, biotech, environmental services, advanced materials and information services. Another PKC goal is to create a diverse, vibrant and sustainable economy that respects the social fabric of the community and the natural environment.
