PULLMAN – The latest research and hands-on teaching methods in organic farming will be on display 8:30 a.m.-Noon, Thursday, July 29, at WSU’s Organic Farm as part of a free field day. The tour will also cover the new study on alternative dry land grains.
Registration begins at 8 a.m.. The event is free and open to the public.
The four-acre certified organic teaching farm offers students opportunity to earn university credit during the spring, summer and fall, while working on an operational community-supported agriculture (CSA) farm.
The farm produces over 30 different vegetable crops as well as fruit, flowers and herbs for a 22-week harvest season.
Both students and the farm manager will give presentations, followed by a tour of the farm. Fresh fruits and vegetables, and cool drinks will be provided to “beet” the heat.
