SPOKANE – Janet Beary, a clinical assistant professor of dietetics at WSU Spokane, will assume the office of president of the Washington State Dietetic Association in June.
Beary is the director of the WSU Coordinated Program in Dietetics as well as a registered dietitian and a certified health education specialist. She has a doctor’s degree in public health from Oregon State University and has been a professor at WSU for the last 10 years.
The dietetics program has recently become a part of WSU’s College of Pharmacy and is currently evolving from a minor course of study to a master’s degree, requiring one calendar year of study and practice.
The Washington State Dietetic Association is an affiliate of the American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The WSDA has almost 1,700 members.
