Donation locations set up as summer exodus begins

PULLMAN – As students move out for the summer they can help support the community by donating used belongings to charity through Move Out, Pitch In.

 

Last year the program collected more than 45 tons of items that otherwise would have been stored in a landfill. These included food, clothing, furniture and small electronics.

 

“One of our favorite aspects of the MOPI program is how much students contribute to meeting the needs of less fortunate people in the Palouse region,” said Jamie Bentley, program coordinator for University Recreation and WSU Wellbeing.

 

Donation containers will be located at all residence halls and sororities April 28-May 8. Off-campus containers, facilitated by Whitman County, will be found at the following locations May 1-June 1:

 

* Congregational Church, Campus Street

* St. James Episcopal Church, Stadium Way
* Car wash at Zoe’s, NW TerreView Drive
* Church of Latter Day Saints, Orchard Drive

Campus units that help with the collection process include the Center for Civic Engagement, Resident Hall Association, Residence Life and Waste Management.
