VANCOUVER – About 100 openings remain for participants in the Cougar Community 5K run/walk beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at WSU Vancouver. Proceeds support the Student Leadership Award, presented every spring by the Office of Student Involvement.
The race is open to the public and parking is free. Student registration is $5; others pay $20. Sign up at www.signmeup.com/68940
The race/walk will feature official timing (AA Sports), water, sports drinks and food. Music will liven up the event and photographers will capture every moment. An awards ceremony will wrap up the morning. All participants will receive a gift bag, T-shirt and a finisher medal.
The Cougar Community 5K is a challenging cross country course. It has steep descents and inclines. Surfaces include concrete, curbs, bark chips, dirt, mud, gravel, uneven ground, grass, wooden bridges and wooden boardwalks. There will be multiple wet, slippery, muddy, dirty and rough areas with many tripping hazards.
Due to the variety of terrain, wheelchairs and strollers cannot be accommodated.
