Jazz guitarist John Stowell in concert at WSU

PULLMAN — Jazz guitarist John Stowell will present a guest concert in Kimbrough Concert Hall at the WSU campus at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan, 27. The concert will be free of charge and is sponsored by the WSU School of Music and the Jazz Society at WSU.

Downbeat magazine International Critic’s Poll winner and Origin Records recording artist John Stowell has recorded, toured and performed with many of the world’s greatest jazz musicians including Paul Horn, Tom Harrell, Milt Jackson, Art Farmer and David Firesen. 

Stowell is featured with Friesen on the CD “Through the Listening Glass” which was chosen as one of the “Ten Best Jazz Albums of the Decade” by the Los Angeles Examiner.

Appearing with Stowell will be WSU faculty members Dave Hagelganz and Greg Yasinitsky, saxophones; Frederick “David” Snider, bass; and Joe Covill, drums.

Stowell will also be presenting two free clinics open to all WSU students and the community. On Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 9:10 to 10 a.m., he will speak about Music Marketing in Kimbrough 101 and from 1:10 to 2 p.m., he will speak about improvisation in Kimbrough 115.
