Professor appointed as Nihoul Faculty Fellow

PULLMAN – The College of Business at WSU recently announced that John Nofsinger, associate professor of finance, has been appointed as the Nihoul Faculty Fellow in Finance.
The Nihoul Faculty Fellowship in Finance is funded through a gift from Tom and Linda Nihoul to promote innovation and excellence in education. The Nihoul Fellowship will support Nofsinger’s research in studying why people often make poor financial decisions and what steps can be taken to overcome those problems.  Additionally, the fellowship is a means of providing outstanding educational opportunities for finance students.
Nofsinger joined the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate in the College of Business in 2001 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005. He received the Dean’s Faculty Excellence Award in 2006 and 2007, and held the Lang Faculty Fellowship between 2005 and 2007. Nofsinger’s areas of expertise include investor psychology; investments; international finance; and entrepreneurial finance.
“I am honored to have been selected as the Nihoul Faculty Fellow in Finance,” says Nofsinger. “This is yet another example of how Tom and Linda have shown outstanding leadership in supporting WSU and their local community.”
“It is an honor and privilege to support the College of Business and Dr. Nofsinger,” says Tom Nihoul. “We urge other Cougs to do the same!”

WSU alumni Tom and Linda Nihoul are long-time supporters of the College of Business. Tom has served on the CB National Board of Advisors for the past four years and has served as a judge for the WSU Business Plan Competition. Both have provided leadership to the college in the Spokane region, and have sponsored the college’s Spokane Power Breakfast Spokane Power Breakfast through their company, Nihoul & Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc.
