Next president might make over a half million per year

If Washington State University wants a good leader, it’ll have to pay.

As the university prepares to replace retiring President V. Lane Rawlins, officials are calculating how much more they will likely have to pay his successor.

The university will need to pay more than what it currently pays Rawlins to make the position competitive, said Rafael Stone, WSU Board of Regent member overseeing the search process. Officials hope to make a decision on a successor by spring, with a new boss in place for the next academic year.
