Saxophonist David Hagelganz will be the guest in a free concert featuring the award-winning Washington State University Jazz Big Band and VOJAZZ vocal jazz ensemble at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Kimbrough Concert Hall.
Hagelganz has performed, toured and recorded with some of the finest musicians in jazz including Ben Wolfe, David Friesen, Mal Waldron and Marvin “Smitty” Smith. He is featured on numerous CDs distributed internationally on the Ark label, and has garnered praise in top jazz publications including Down Beat, Jazz Times and Jazziz magazines.
The program will open with VOJAZZ, directed by music instructor Jennifer Scovell, performing “When I Fall in Love” and “Some Other Time,” both arranged by pianist and engineering research assistant Kristin Du Chateau. The group will perform Fred Fisher’s “
