WSU Vancouver Awards 41 Local Scholarships for 2001-2002

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Washington State University Vancouver held the first annual scholarship luncheon Sept. 21, providing scholarship donors the opportunity to meet student recipients and hear from Campus Executive Officer and dean Hal Dengerink and associate dean Bruce Romanish. Romanish reported that 10 years ago scholarship support was $3,500. Today, support is more than $1.3 million in annual and endowed scholarship funds.

Nicole Farrell, a junior in business and recipient of three WSU Vancouver scholarships, represented her fellow students telling her personal story and thanking the donors for inspiring her to complete her education. She, like many of WSU Vancouver’s students, balances work, family and education.

WSU awarded 41 students scholarships for their studies at WSU Vancouver for the 2001-02 academic year. These scholarships are supported by private gifts to WSU Vancouver from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations. Individual scholarship awards range from $500-$3,500 for the year.

Those interested in supporting WSU Vancouver scholarships should contact the Office of Campus Advancement at 360/546-9600.
