PULLMAN, Wash. — Award-winning author Mary Clearman Blew begins the spring’s Visiting Writer Series at Washington State University Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Sponsored by the English department, Blew’s 7:30 p.m. talk is planned for Avery Hall’s Bundy Reading Room and is open to the public without charge. A reception and book signing follow her talk.
Professor of creative writing at the University of Idaho, Blew grew up in Montana on the ranch homesteaded by her great-grandfather in 1882.
Her short fiction has appeared in numerous quarterlies, including “The North American Review,” “The Georgia Review” and “Four Quarters.” Blew’s books include two collections of short stories: “Lambing Out and Other Stories” and “Runaway,” which won a Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award in 1990. Her collections of essays include “All But the Waltz” and “Bone Deep in Landscape.” A new collection of fiction, “Sister Coyote,” was published last August, and an anthology, “Written on Water: Essays on Idaho Rivers,” is forthcoming.
Blew has twice received silver medals from the Montana Committee for the Humanities.
