Kari Tutwiler Named WSU Student Programs Associate Director

PULLMAN, Wash. — Kari Tutwiler of Denver’s Metropolitan State College is the new associate director for student programs at Washington State University. She started at WSU on July 10.

Providing leadership in what was formerly called Activities/Recreational Sports, she works in the new Office of Student Programs and develops, implements, administers and evaluates an integrated and comprehensive student activities program for WSU’s diverse campus community, said Tim McCarty, WSU Compton Union Building director.

Tutwiler supervises student programs coordinators as they advise committees of the Associated Students of WSU and other organizations. She also administers the university’s registered student organizations program, overseeing services to 250 student organizations. “The work of the Office of Student Programs is essential to a dynamic student life at WSU,” she said.

She started at the Denver college in 1986, and has been its student activities associate director since 1995.

A former newspaper reporter, she is a Utah State University journalism graduate and earned a master’s degree in speech communication from Eastern Illinois University.
