WSU Mom’s Weekend Calendar of Events Announced

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Mom’s Weekend 2000,
set for April 14-16, has events for every family member.

Highlights for Friday, April 14, include an antique show from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at
the Quality Inn on Bishop Boulevard. Sports fans can watch the Cougars play
baseball against Arizona State at 3 p.m. on Bailey-Brayton Field.

A senior reception is set for 5 p.m. at the Lewis Alumni Centre. Theatergoers
can view “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” and “The Good Doctor,”
both at 8 p.m. in Daggy Hall theaters.

“Forbidden Broadway,” a sidesplitting spoof that pokes fun at Broadway
stars, shows and songs, with a fantastic cast of comic chameleons, hits the
Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum stage for an 8 p.m. program. Call

WSU’s Crimson Company show choir will give its final public Pullman
performances Friday at 8 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. in Gladish
Community Center Auditorium.

Saturday, April 15, will kick off bright and early with a pancake feed at 7 a.m. at
the WSU Fire Department. The annual Mom’s Weekend Brunch takes place at
10 a.m. in the Compton Union Building’s Ballroom. The program will include
the announcement of Mom of the Year.

Football fans should plan to be at Martin Stadium at 11 a.m., where the
Cougars will play a spring football scrimmage. Throughout the day, various
departments will host open houses on campus.

A planetarium show, presented by the Astronomy Club, is planned for 11 a.m.,
1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Sloan Hall, Room 231.

The WSU men’s lacrosse team meets the University of Montana at noon on
South Fairway Field. WSU’s baseball team plays Arizona State University at 1
p.m. on Bailey-Brayton Field.

A fashion show, “Kaleidoscope,” is set for 1 p.m. in the CUB Auditorium. At 2
p.m. and 6 p.m., the Fish Fans synchronized swim group will present
“Swimming Through the Decades” in the Physical Education Building’s Gibb

The 11th Annual Mom’s Weekend Step Show, presented by Kappa Alpha Psi
fraternity, is planned for 2 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum. The coliseum ticket box
office, 509/335-1514, has ticket information.

Later that evening at 6 o’clock, a Hawaiian luau begins in Lincoln Middle
School Gym. Sponsored by Hui Hau’oli O Hawai’i, WSU’s Hawaiian club, the
luau theme is “2000 Years of Hawaii’s History.”

The Mom’s Weekend Comedy Tour, presented by the African American
Association, is planned for 8 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum. Comedians Hope
Flood, Lavell Crawford and Gary Owen will bring their own style of humor to
WSU as a highlight for the university’s major spring weekend.

The WSU Opera Workshop will present a fully-staged production of Mozart’s
“The Marriage of Figaro” at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 16, in
Bryan Hall Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door.

Also on Sunday, a plant sale, sponsored by the Horticulture Club, will be held
from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Livestock Pavilion.
