“Partial solution to the Busemann-Petty problem in R^n for a particular class of bodies”
ABSTRACT:
The Busemann-Petty problem asks whether origin-symmetric convex bodiesin R^n with smaller central hyperplane sectionsnecessarily have smaller volume. The answer is affirmative forn <= 4 and negative for n >= 5.
In this talk we introduce the class of intersectionbodies in R^n and show that for this class of bodies theproblem has essentially an affirmative answer.
