AUBURN, Wash. – Woodland owners will learn to organize a timber sale that meets their objectives and is profitable and safe for their woodlot at the “Selling Logs from your Property” symposium March 11-12 at Green River College in Auburn.
Co-sponsored by Washington State University Extension, the event costs $23 per person or $33 per couple before March 3 and $30/$40 after. Student and Master Gardener discounts are available. The cost includes Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and field trip transportation.

Forestry consultants, loggers, log buyers, experienced landowners and representatives from the state departments of Natural Resources and of Revenue will discuss topics such as: types of sales and buyers, getting fair value for logs, what log buyers look for, understanding landowner rights and responsibilities, appropriate tree growing practices, liability protection, how to hire a logger, working with a professional forester, permitting requirements and taxes.
A field trip will include a tour of Lincoln Tree Farm to see examples of successful harvesting, riparian buffers, reforestation and logs that will sell for premium prices.
