Luedeking, who passed away in 2009, was a professor in chemical engineering at WSU 1956-1981. He was involved in the community, including the historical society. Selecting historical photos and writing captions for them for the local newspaper became a favorite activity in the last decade of his life.
Garretson was a professor in the WSU history department 1970-2008. Though his field of expertise was 18th century Austrian history, he acquired an interest in local history too. He is secretary of the historical society board and archivist for its paper materials.
He completed Luedeking’s dream of a historical book about Pullman. “Pullman” is the most recent in the “Images of America” series by Arcadia Publishing.
The book is 128 pages, softcover, and will be available at bookstores, retailers, online and through the publisher.
