What is music good for?
 
“If you look cross-culturally, you’ve got music in just about every culture in some form or another,” said Steve Lakatos, associate professor of psychology at WSU Vancouver who studied music history and theory as a Yale undergraduate. “It would seem that there is something universal about music in the sense that it’s not just pleasurable, but it’s almost a necessity of a culture.”
 
It’s as if we’re tapping into some deep reservoir of our being.
