RICHLAND – “Nobody Notices a Clean Window: A History of Successes in Radiation Protection,” will be presented April 29 in Richland.
Daniel J. Strom will talk about the unsung success stories during the Herbert M. Parker Foundation Spring 2010 Lecture at 4:30 p.m. in the Battelle Auditorium.
Strom’s presentation is organized around the 10 principles of radiation protection and how their implementation has improved in the 115 years since the discovery of X-rays.
Strom joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 1991 and is in the Radiological Science and Engineering Group. He currently serves as the director of the Health Physics Society. He earned his doctoral degree in radiological hygiene from the University of North Carolina. Strom also teaches at WSU Tri-Cities as an adjunct professor.
Strom’s research interests include risk analysis, protection against radon and its progeny, applied statistical inference, inferences of doses from intakes of radioactive materials, uncertainty and dose reconstruction.
