PULLMAN – Anita Cory received national recognition when she took home the Outstanding Fraternity/Sorority Advisor award – for the second time – last weekend. She first won the honor in 2001.
Cory, director of the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, traveled with other advisers and representatives from the WSU Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils to the 62nd annual American Fraternal Leadership Values Conference, West Division. Schools from across the country attended, and WSU’s Greek Councils won seven of the 13 awards.
Cory has worked with WSU Greeks for 17 years. Her devotion to being both Greek and a Coug was highlighted in her nomination, as was her outstanding work while pursuing her Ph.D. in higher education, maintaining her family life, and finding time for hobbies.
WSU Panhellenic Council won the Scholastic Achievement, Community Involvement, and Patrick J. Naessen’s Educational Programming awards. It also shared the Marketing and Media Showcase award with the WSU Interfraternity Council. The Interfraternity Council also won the Community Involvement and Patrick J. Naessen’s Educational Programming awards.
Both councils worked on extensive application packets in order to be eligible for awards.
“The highlight of the trip was definitely the awards banquet,” said Vice President Membership Recruitment Courtney Ramsey said. “Or maybe it was Disneyland. But it felt like our name was on every (award announcement PowerPoint) slide!”
