Cougs is the Community projects invite 15,000 alumni from all campuses who live between Olympia, Wash., and Eugene, Ore., to participate. Projects are sponsored by the WSUV Alumni Advisory Board.
WSU alumni and Merrill Contractors painted the inside walls of the Swift House last October as the first Cougs in the Community project. More than 60 alumni participated. The Swift House is owned by Second Step Housing, a local nonprofit organization that provides safe, affordable housing for women and children who would otherwise be homeless.
There are two ways to participate in the spring project. The first is to donate new and lightly used children’s items including: shoes, diapers, boys and girls pajamas, socks, underwear and boys and girls clothing sizes 5-10. Donations will be collected through May 5 at:

The second way to participate is by volunteering with fellow alumni to help sort, organize and fill donation requests at the NW Children’s Outreach center at 6615 E. Mill Plain, Vancouver. Up to 30 volunteers are need from 7-8:30 p.m. May 4 and 9-11 a.m. May 5.
