PULLMAN, Wash. – Atlantic Brass Quintet founding member John Manning will be the featured artist at the 2013 Northwest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference March 22-24 at Washington State University. Master classes, lectures, demonstrations and live performances from Northwest teachers will advance tuba-euphonium pedagogy and literature. Students will participate in competitions, a composition contest and performance opportunities in the All-Star Tuba-Euphonium Choir or Open Invite Tuba-Euphonium Choir.

A concert by the WSU Wind Ensemble at 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, in Bryan Hall will feature the U.S. premiere of Francois Glorieux’s “Concerto for Euphonium,” the world premiere of “Dark Matter: Petite Concertino for Tuba and Band” by Ben Kirby and selections containing standard tuba and euphonium audition excerpts.
Manning, associate professor of tuba and euphonium at the University of Iowa, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 23, in Kimbrough Concert Hall.
The weekend finale will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Bryan Hall. It will feature performances by convention participants, including a mass tuba ensemble.
Concerts are open to the public, but admission is charged to support the International Tuba Euphonium Association. General admission tickets for $5 will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to each performance.
