David Leonard will co-lead a free national webinar about how white colleagues can help recruit, retain and advance women of color faculty in academic STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) disciplines at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, Nov. 1. Leonard is chair and associate professor of the Department of Critical Culture, Gender and Race Studies at Washington State University.

Leonard will discuss a common bias that somehow “excellence” is not synonymous with “diversity,” as well as barriers to faculty support of colleagues who are women of color.
He has dedicated his career to interdisciplinary scholarship, transformative teaching and research that underscore the continued significance of race within popular culture, the structures of politics and society.
