PULLMAN, Wash. – U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke will join audiences in 60 cities and towns by via a live “town hall” meeting broadcast on the U.S.-China relationship.
The WSU Asia Program and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations will conduct the sixth annual CHINA Town Hall, National Reflections, Local Connections meeting, starting 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE) 319.

The event will be broadcast to 60 venues nationwide and will feature:
a public lecture by Susan Whiting, a political scientist from the University of Washington, entitled “Is China Governed by Law.” -
a live webcast and Q&A with U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke
Following his presentation, Locke will respond to questions from audience members nationwide, moderated by Stephen Orlins, president of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.
Ambassador Gary Locke has been U.S. Ambassador to China since August 2011. Previously, he served as the Secretary of Commerce, 2009-2011, focusing on the President’s National Export Initiative, which achieved a thirty-two percent increase in exports to China in 2009-2010.
Prior to that, Locke served two terms as governor of Washington, where he helped double the state’s exports to China, and as a partner in the Seattle office of the international law firm, David Wright Tremaine LLP, where he co-chaired the firm’s China practice.
