OLYMPIA, Wash. Olympia High School will induct two Washington State University alumni to its athletic Hall of Fame this month during its second annual induction ceremony. OHS will induct WSU grad and current athletic director Bill Moos and grad McCelland Ward “Chick” Rockey.
Moos graduated from OHS where he was three year starter in football and basketball in 1969 and went on to WSU where he lettered three years in football and was the co-captain of the team during his senior year. He graduated in 1973 with a degree in history and went on to serve as the athletic director at the University of Montana and the University of Oregon. He came out of retirement in 2010 to become the athletic director at WSU.
Rockey graduated from WSU in 1922 with a degree in agriculture. He played basketball and baseball while at WSU and went on to teach physical education and serve as athletic director at OHS. He coached football, basketball and baseball and became the head coach in 1926. Rockey lead his teams to victory multiple times before retiring in 1964. He will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony this weekend.
